RAND Alumni Association

Who We Are

RAND Alumni looking at Globe

The RAND Alumni Association was established in 1992 as an independent organization. Its primary purpose is to provide a forum for social and professional activities of former and current RANDites. Since then, we have grown from the first 100 Charter Members to more than 2000 strong, across the United States and around the world. Every three years, a twelve-member volunteer Board of Directors is elected to guide and govern the Association, with support provided by RAND's Development Office.

Santa Monica Headquarters Campus

Santa Monica Headquarters

In November of 2004, the RAND Corporation officially occupied its new headquarters facility in Santa Monica, California. After years of planning, the new facility is fully operational. Along with an adjacent building, the facility comprises the RAND Santa Monica headquarters campus and marks a significant milestone for RAND.

Alumni Giving

In early 1998, the Alumni Fund was established to celebrate RAND's 50th anniversary year. Over 200 Alumni Association members contributed more than $50,000 to the Fund in that charter year. Alumni support has remained generous since the start. In 2005, the RAND Alumni Association (RAA) conducted a two-year campaign to have a conference room in RAND's new headquarters building in Santa Monica named in its honor. The campaign was enthusiastically supported by RAA members and raised $155,000, all of which is currently being used to support RAND-initiated research.

The Alumni Fund also offers the opportunity for members and donors to make Tribute gifts where you can make contributions to honor fellow RANDites, family members, and friends. Some alumni may also wish to help ensure RAND's future by making a planned gift now, or including a bequest in their wills, through the RAND Legacy Circle.

RAND is grateful to each and every member for their thoughtful support. Your continued generosity was especially instrumental in the success of RAND's first fundraising campaign, "The Reach of Reason," which concluded in the spring of 2005 with the dedication of our new headquarters facility in Santa Monica.
