Overview
Public safety and other public goods increasingly concern matters of homeland security and science and technology policy. Recognizing these mutual dependencies and others that involve physical infrastructure and the environment, RAND has formed a new research unit: RAND Infrastructure, Safety and Environment (ISE). This new unit consolidates the work of RAND Public Safety and Justice, the RAND Homeland Security Center, and RAND Science and Technology.
The mission of ISE is to improve the development, management, and protection of society's essential built and natural assets, as well as related social assets such as safety and security. ISE will conduct research and analysis in homeland security, critical infrastructure protection, public and occupational safety, transportation and transportation safety, the environment, energy, economic development, space, and telecommunications - all areas in which RAND has a long track record and deep reservoirs of expertise.
